What if the idea of home was different than what everyone else was doing, would that be so bad? For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to build a “home away from home” to visit on the weekends, and Christmas with my daughter. Here is an interesting article on just such a place.

Overcome The Adversity

overcome-the-adversity-1

Being a parent can be trying, being a parent in difficult times, even more-so, being a single parent in trying times… Well that is something all together different. If you are struggling, as we all do some times, in parenting, in difficulty, in life, remember that this too shall pass and don’t forget:

It is true that adversity is the best teacher. Without experiencing adversity we fail to grow, we fail to learn. And while I am hesitant to say I welcome adversity, I am however able to appreciate it, in a place where I used to dread its instructions. It has, truth be told, become an old friend who’s weathered time with me, and has been my instructor.

Where I uses to rebuke it’s comings, I now welcome it, if I cannot shake it away. I embrace it like a brother and hold it dear, knowing it’s rewards will soon, far outweigh its sorrows. For without adversity we are but beggars for wisdom, in an otherwise un-lovable world of poppers and vagabonds: well-travelled, but none the wiser.

hold to its keeping, forsake not it’s instructions. Sit at its feet and let it teach you, for with adversity, soon comes wisdom. Soon too, comes joy.

Be The Leader, Strong Fathers.

Are you a leader? This next topic is near and dear to my heart, and that topic is Leadership. Being a leader isn’t always what we think it is. What I mean is, in order to be an effective leader one of the biggest personal traits that you have to possess is the ability to listen and make good decisions.  Even more so when the Army you are leading is your family, or child.

Maybe it’s the modern society, or maybe it’s the fact that since the baby-boomer generation the role of Father’s has been under attack. Whatever it might be, strong fathers are still needed.

Statistically speaking, it’s said that 90% of Male prison inmates grew up without a father. I’ve pondered at just why that is. Not the stats, but why it was that fathers left, and from what I can gather, it has to do with divorce, and a failed court system.

We all know that this is not right, that it takes both parents to raise a psychologically healthy child. And it is sad when a child is not given that option. So again I ask, are you a leader? Continue reading

6 Things Every Parent Needs To Know.

tantrum2

You see it all too often these days, in the supermarket, walking down the street, even at Starbucks. The undisciplined child who is throwing a tantrum, or is talking back in some unknown language, that sounds like something you would rather strangle than hug.

And herein lies that major issue: Children are not the problem, they are the result of the problem. What I mean is, that parents these days, are largely to blame for the child’s misgivings and wrong doings.

And we all know, that this, could never be “Our” child who just had a nuclear meltdown because, “No, we cannot get a kinder egg today.” So what do you do? How are you supposed to handle a child when they are not listening to you, when all seems lost in their little Worlds?

Well, honestly, in order for you to be a parent that your child will listen to, you have to gain your child’s respect. I have been lucky. I started working with my Little girl very early on. And although there is a Vast difference in the parenting style between my Ex and myself. It only takes a few words, a few actions to see a drastic adjustment when I pick her up.

Here’s what you need to know:  if you do this for a week, you might just be amazed.
